Portrait of the artist, Katherine Clarke Langlands, in her studio on a wooden stool in front fo a brightly colored abstract painting on the wall for Soapbox Arts Gallery

Katherine Clarke Langlands

unabashedly identifies as a female contemporary American artist, a practicing Buddhist, a warrior for justice and a visual storyteller.

The daughter of snowboarding pioneers, Katherine grew up immersed in the snowboard and skateboard culture of the 90's and that sensibility often informs her gritty, relevant murals and vibrant, dynamic paintings and sculptures.

Katherine’s work fearlessly explores the interplay of living beings and their relationship to color, shape and space. When moved by the spark of creativity, she ‘hears the music’ even before picking up a paintbrush and uses a kinesthetic technique she developed. She surrounds herself with canvases and ‘dancing’ between them, creates a fluid, unified message that can be appreciated individually or in concert.
